Laws enforced by the Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH) protect you against illegal discrimination and harassment in renting, leasing or purchase of housing based on any of the following:

    • Sex (gender)
    • Sexual orientation
    • Marital status
    • National origin (including language use restrictions)
    • Ancestry
    • Familial status (households with children under age 18)
    • Source of income
    • Disability (mental and physical including HIV and AIDS)
    • Medical condition (cancer/genetic characteristics)
    • Age
